“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” This is a familiar quote, but no one seems sure about who deserves the credit for saying it first. Regardless, it inspires many to stop and think.
One point worth pondering is how “good” a person can be if they witness or are aware of evil, but still do nothing. Some wonder, “What can I do about it?” and/or “What is my responsibility?”
Most agree that we’re in the midst of tumultuous times. Many appear overwhelmed, and some cope by ignoring most, if not all, threats … locally, nationally and even globally. Others look for ways to drive meaningful change.
Within the US, many are concerned about threats to democracy right now. If you want to help drive meaningful change, we invite you to volunteer with The Union, where we are striving to preserve democracy. We’re a group of Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and more. We don’t agree about everything, but we do agree about one thing. Our democracy is worth defending.
It’s easy to make a difference; simply visit The Union Action Center, use the “Filter” feature to narrow the options, and find tasks that align with your skills and interests.
At The Union, we believe that it will take all of us to preserve democracy in the US. Please consider joining us.
