Safeguarding Democracy: Why I joined the Union
Planning and execution produce more results than complaining
I volunteer with The Union because I am deeply troubled by the potential trajectory of our nation. This concern began well before the 2020 election when I, like many others, found myself lamenting over the policies and direction of the Trump administration. As a problem solver by nature and profession, with a background in mechanical engineering and project management, I've learned that planning and execution produce more results than complaining. Now, I'm driven to apply these problem-solving abilities to take action to safeguard our democracy and encourage others to do the same.
What motivates me most is the desire to ensure that my children inherit a country where their freedoms are preserved, and their rights are maintained. It's unacceptable that my daughter might have fewer rights than women of my era. This injustice fuels my determination to combat the anti-democratic forces gaining ground, particularly in the wake of actions and ethical lapses exhibited by many politicians in power.
Joining The Union is a call to action. Through activities like phone banking, canvassing, engaging with fellow citizens, and seeking opportunities to defend democracy, we all can make a tangible difference. In the words of JFK,
Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.
It is simple to get involved, and every contribution is essential. Democracy is in need, and your help can make all the difference. Will you join me?
