Open Letter to Ken Buck

Please take a moment to consider joining us as we work together to preserve democracy

Dear Congressman Buck,

I’m a former journalist and volunteer with the pro-democracy organization The Union, which is dedicated to the defense of democracy. Our team is growing by leaps and bounds as Americans of every persuasion are fed up – just like you.

You are one of the very few Republicans to stand up for the democratic principles that have long been our nation’s signature. That’s why I am writing to respectfully invite you to add your voice to our mission in whatever way would make you most comfortable. We would welcome the opportunity to work with you, whether it be on an op-ed, letter-to-the-editor for prominent publications, or something else you believe would be appealing to help bolster our work in turning out voters.

It’s easy to understand your recent comment that this has been the worst year of your nine years in Congress. It’s been grueling for all of us who want nothing more than to protect and preserve our democracy and stabilize the political landscape that has been distorted by a candidate who seems determined to undermine many democratic institutions.

Certainly your current focus is on leaving the House and determining next steps. It would truly be an honor if we were one of them. Please take a moment to consider joining us as we work together to preserve democracy in the US. We very much look forward to hearing back from you.
